Dorcas Ministries Appoints André Anthony as new CEO

The Dorcas Ministries Board of Directors is pleased to announce André Anthony as its new CEO. He will begin his new role on October 17th. This appointment follows the passing of longtime and well-respected late Executive Director, Howard Manning.

Mr. Anthony has devoted his career to working with nonprofit organizations and brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and high-level leadership to Dorcas. Most recently, he served as the Executive Director of the North Carolina Global Health Alliance. Prior to that, he spent over 18 years working in various roles across the country for the YMCA. During his last three years with the Y, he served as Chief of Staff & Vice President of Organizational Advancement and Strategy at the YMCA of Central New York.

“I want to express how humbled, honored and excited I am for the opportunity to serve and lead this amazing and impactful organization,” said Anthony. “Dorcas has been changing lives for the better for over five decades, and it brings me great joy to join this family.”

Under the leadership of late Executive Director, Howard Manning, Dorcas has seen tremendous growth over the last few years. In 2021, Dorcas served over 4,000 area residents through its financial assistance, food pantry and training programs to help them recover from a crisis. Our mission is to help our neighbors get back on their feet and on a path to success.

“We are so excited to begin working with André,” said Andy Ferrell, Board President. “After an extensive search process, André was the unanimous choice of the contract search firm, The Nautical Group, and the Dorcas Board. We are looking forward to taking Dorcas to the next level as we continue to care and provide for our neighbors in need.”

For over 50 years, Dorcas Ministries has served the Cary/Morrisville communities by providing compassionate assistance to area residents to empower people to become stable and self-sufficient.
